A very warm welcome to Space Station Centaur.

SPACE STATION CENTAUR is nominally based in Shropshire but is a correspondence chapter with members from all over the UK. The one thing we all have in common is a love of science fiction, particularly Star Trek. We are part of STARFLEET, The International Star Trek  Fan Association, Inc. (SFI for short), which is probably the largest Star Trek fan club in the world with over 230 chapters worldwide. SPACE STATION CENTAUR is one of the newest ones, very recently formed from existing members who wanted to expand on their SFI  experience.

What is a correspondence chapter?

It simply means that we meet predominantly via the Internet. Facebook is our favoured option, but that's not our only method of getting together. Having only recently formed, we are still settling into things but we plan to arrange some sort of get together every quarter. It could be something as simple as a pub lunch or something greater, like a visit to a historical site or zoo. Our first meeting in September will be taking place at the Space Centre in Leicester.

How do I get involved?

You simply have to be a member of SFI and have selected the Centaur to be your chapter. Membership isn't expensive—just $5 a year, which is about £4.00 and can be paid very easily by Paypal. You can join quickly by clicking here.

What can I expect from my membership?

You will meet lots of people who share similar interests to you because we all love science fiction. You will get to know those new friends as you chat with them, and take part in little quizzes in the group. We also produce a quarterly newsletter for our chapter members (called The Centaurian) and you will have access to the regional newsletter (The Runabout) as well as the  Fleet edition(the Communiqué).

Another great membership perk is access to STARFLEET Academy where you can take exams on all sorts of topics not just from Star Trek, but other science fiction franchises.

There is lots more I could tell you here, but there will be lots more information added to this website over the coming weeks, so please do drop by to see what's happening. In the meantime, if you'd like more info, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I hope I can look forward to welcoming you on board soon.

Best regards
